Computers + Kids:summer camp offers the very best in computer and high-tech experiences
for area youth - girls and boys ages 7 through 15+. How do we know?
It’s been kid-tested for over 27 years!
As Rachel writes. . .
“Dear Ms. K, I want to take some time out of this day to thank you
soooooooooooooooooooo much!!!! You have taught me many new things that
I had yet to learn. I had no idea that there were so many things that
you can teach to a computer!!!!!!”
Children get to do it all – create their own computer game, create an
animation, use FLASH, do 3-D modeling and use CAD, discover the
excitement of digital photography and film-making, build their own web
site, build and work programmable robots, access great places on the
Internet, and play the latest approved, interactive online and software
games. Computers are used to stimulate creativity and thinking.
The
magic and excitement in the Computers + Kids camp comes from the vision
of Eva Kaplan, the camp’s founder and director. Certified to teach in
New York and New Jersey, Eva has created and coordinated popular
computer courses for children for more than 29 years and has been a key
presenter for the Trenton Computer Festival since its inception in
1976. She has also mentored for Future Cities, an annual student
competition sponsored nationwide by Engineers' Week.
Eva is the longtime head
judge for the Elementary Division of Mercer Science and Engineering
Fair sponsored by Mercer Science & Engineering Club, NJ. Widely
published in the field of computers and education, Eva is listed in
Who's Who in Science and Engineering and in Who's Who in US Executives.
Eva was nominated to membership in and is a member of the New York
Academy of Sciences. Eva has worked as a
consultant to Microsoft's children's software division and for
Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Music Computer Game. She was an early
contributor of computer activities for textbooks published by Houghton
Mifflin.
There are hands-on experiences not normally available in school settings such as...
making a circuit board
building a computer
interfacing a robot with a computer
discovering speech and music synthesis.
Each week there is a special event when campers meet with an expert for a surprise activity.
